The Great Land Run Education Foundation was founded in 2008 by Continental Resources with the objective to support Garfield County public school districts through the annual Great Land Run Race.
Triangle Insurance Co. became the title sponsor of the race in 2015 and we added Wymer Brownlee as a co-title sponsor in 2022. In 2024, we welcomed co-title sponsors Wymber Brownlee and Koch who not only contribute monetarily, but also promote community involvement in the race and recruit additional sponsors.
Initially only a 5K run, the race has since grown into a 5K, 10K and half marathon which attracts more than 400 runners to Enid, Oklahoma. Each year 100% of net proceeds from the race and sponsor donations are divided based on school district attendance and distributed at the following year’s race. Since 2008, the Great Land Run Education Foundation has contributed more than $550,000 to education in Garfield County.
From 2014 – 2023, the donations have been:
2014: $33,737.14
2015: $28,706.50
2016: $35,511.45
2017: $38,740.63
2018: $36,556.34
2019: $41,454.65
2020: $52,907.85
2021: $53,632.55
2022: $36,183.59
2023: $36,340.04
2024: $37,023.71

Governed by a board of directors, the GLR Education Foundation is formed by representatives from our Title Sponsors, Enid Public Schools and the Enid Running Club (ERC). Board Members currently include: Avadelle Hibbets; Wymer Brownlee; Bo Uhrmacher, Koch Fertilizer; Dr. Dudley Darrow, Superintendent EPS; Dr. Eve Switzer, ERC Vice President; and Johnette Kemph, ERC member.
We appreciate the continued support from area businesses and volunteers. We also wish to thank the various Enid and Chisholm student organizations who have volunteered in the past at water stops and passed out medals at the finish line.
